Mavericks 2020/21 Team Formation - Frequently Askaed Questions
The following document was created as a reference regarding the Mavericks Soccer Club team formation process for the 2020/21 season. Please check back to this page as it will be updated periodically with more FAQs as we receive them.
Why aren’t we having traditional tryouts?
Due to the Covid19 shelter in place and no known confirmed date to return to play without restrictions, our club is taking this position now, to support our players, on and off the field and bring some normalcy to the situation and transition teams now.
My son/daughter wants to try out for a 1st team, and now they can’t?
All players will start where they left off on their team, but will have all of the new season to show their skills to the coaches of their age groups for 1st team, 2nd team play. This could be in training sessions, matches and tournaments. Player movement will be fluid based on player's performance and contributing factors.
What if I don’t accept the team offer right now, can I join the team after tryouts with another club if I want to?
If you do not accept and register per the club’s guidelines and scheduled deadlines, you will lose your guarantee of team placement. Depending on your former team's roster or age group depth, there may be opportunities to join age group training and then join a team if a roster spot is open, and if offered a roster spot.
My son/daughter is a 2014 birth year, can they join your club?
Yes, we have our Mini Mavericks Academy 2013/14(U8) and will be offering evaluations in June*. Evaluation details, including field, time and program schedule will be updated soon.
My son/daughter is a 2012 birth year, how can we try out for your club?
We will be posting our club tryouts for this age group soon. You will need to register your son/daughter for our tryouts in June*.
What if the Governor/County do not allow us to play in June*, will you re-schedule the Mini Mavericks Academy and tryouts, or the age group trainings?
Yes, we will always follow the required mandates of the Governor and our County Health Department.
Is there financial assistance (scholarship) available?
Mavericks Soccer Club assists over 30% of our families through the financial aid program. We work hard to make sure that no player is ever turned away due to financial constraints. All returning players must pay the opt-in fee of $50 before June 6th to confirm their spot. Upon registering for the 2020/21 Mavericks program families that wish to apply for a scholarship will have the opportunity to fill in the Mavericks scholarship application form
